End of an era: Good luck in La Jolla, Maverick

Meenakshi Asokan will go down in the books as one of the longest serving and most accomplished graduate students the lab will ever see. We were the lucky beneficiary of her energy, wisdom, and determination for nearly 7 years but all good things must come to an end and we know she will have a great time with the Tye lab at the Salk Institute. Here she is wearing her new surf poncho (because of course she will surf) next to her classmate and labmate, Kameron (and baby Louis).

Kameron received his PhD in 2020 but the hooding ceremony was delayed until 2021. We’re very proud of you, Kameron, and overjoyed that your scientific journey with the Polley lab and EPL continues!

Good luck at UTD, Kelly!

The whole lab and friends got together on a nice summer evening to have a few beers and say goodbye to Kelly Jahn (#21 in the Dallas Cowboys jersey), who will be starting her lab U Texas, Dallas. Kelly received her clinical doctorate in audiology at Vanderbilt and her PhD at U. Washington before joining the lab as postdoctoral fellow/HMS instructor in 2019. She brought some amazing technology online for studying human subjects with tinnitus and hyperacusis. She has some great papers in the works from her time here and many more ahead of her at UT Dallas. Good luck, Kelly!
